Application configures network: specifics, problems, solutions
In the Linux-based industrial systems, user configures the network indirectly, by the custom-built configuration software. In the ideal case, the network in such a system is easy to set up, but allows something very complicated, it adapts to the customer’s network automatically and recovers after the failure quickly. In my talk, I describe the specific requirements for the network configuration mechanism, show a number of the implementation problems and propose some solutions. I illustrate my talk with examples taken from the experience of developing the real EMC products.
