Alexander Komarov: "Benchmarking and tuning NFV, using Yardstick/NSB, OVS, prox, perf, Intel PCM"

Description
Benchmarking and tuning NFV, using Yardstick/NSB, OVS, prox, perf, Intel PCM

Benchmarking and s/w profiling under KVM/qemu differs from baremetal: tools like Linux perf, PCM, Intel Vtune collect different metrics in host and guests;
and setting up network benchmarking tests with OVS, Prox/NSB/Yardstick expose a lot of config parameters which have huge impact on system under test performance.
In this talk I’ll describe these 3 topics: running profiling tools and evaluating the results in host and guest, setting up OVS/Prox/NSB for best throughput performance, and quantifying the performance difference between baremetal and virtualized VNFs.
