Pavel Emelyanov: "Don't you care too much for containers?"
Don't you care too much for containers?
The word "container" nowadays actually means two related technologies -- a lightweight virtualization in the OS kernel and the way to pack applications to easily build, distribute and run them. As any other complex technology containers (both of them) were not designed to solve every single problem in the world, but have right and wrong ways to deal with.
In my talk I will show how two different technologies are connected and why they are called the same name. Then we'll talk about what happens in each area, e.g. why micro-services are good and bad at the same time, what happens in this big ecosystem that still grows up around them, about pros and cons of both OS and HW virtualization and more. And, of course, a little bit about what Virtuozzo company is going to do about it.
